Center for Biomedical Engineering (CBME)

The Center of Biomedical Engineering CBME is the central laboratory of the Munich School of BioEngineering at the Campus Garching. It is located in the former IMETUM building, and provides instruments, laboratory space and office space.

The ground floor has a lecture hall that can accommodate up to about 80 people and a spacious lounge that can be used flexibly for conferences and events, including catering and poster presentations.
The laboratories and workshops are equipped with all devices necessary to perform molecular biological and cell biological experiments, and to develop new medical technologies and devices.

In particular, there are a number of microscopes of different types and for a variety of different applications. One scanning electron microscope (SEM) and one transmission electron microscope complete (KRIOS TITAN) the collection.

Furthermore, there are three magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners, a portable MRI scanner of 0,5 T (Pure Devices), a scanner for preclinical application of 1,0 T (Aspect) and a whole body MRI scanner of 3,0 T for research and development (GE Healthcare, type: MR750w).

Additionally the CBME hosts a human computer tomography system and several X-ray devices for the biophysical research.

The laboratories and the workshops are located on the ground level of the institute.
