3T Imaging System

CBME is home to a 3T GE MR70w scanner, which is 100% dedicated to research. This scanner offers:

Magnet A new, light-weight magnet with a compact footprint that supports a 70 cm patient gantry and offers a large 50 x 50 x 50 cm useable field of view with excellent homogeneity for uncompromised coverage and quality.

MultiDrive RF Transmit Fully automated and independent RF pulse amplitude and phase control produce consistently clear 3.0T images.

OpTix Optical RF offers high channel count, analog to digital-optical signal conversion where it matters inside the scan room to minimize noise and signal degradation, but away from the patient.

Gradients and RF body coils are water and air-cooled for optimum duty-cycle performance, short repetition time (TR) and echo time (TE), producing sharp and clear images. Peak gradient amplitude is 44 mT/m with a maximum slew rate of 200 T/m/s.

The GEM Suite with flexible coils that embrace the patient, maximizes comfort, reducing motion and anxiety, and improves the quality of the exam.

1T Imaging System

The CBME lab environment includes a M2 MRI system manufactured by Aspect Imaging. It is equipped with 35 mm and a 60 mm diameter 1H coil (additionally there is a 13C-1H coil available). The magnetic field is based on a 1T permanent magnet which makes it a flexible and low maintenance device with a wide variety of applications. Among them, there are preclinical small animal imaging studies, heteronuclear spectroscopy experiments and relaxation investigations. Furthermore, the system is employed for the development and validation of novel NMR hardware as well as for educational courses.
