Cardiovascular diseases such as heart attack and stroke are the leading causes of death. In order to understand the development of these diseases and to determine the factors that increase the risk, one needs imaging methods that can visualize the related changes in the blood vessels in great detail. MSB-PI Prof. Julia Herzen develops such imaging methods – they can show details of soft tissue and rely on equipment that easily fits into a standard sized lab.
