MSB Seminar: Reverse-Engineering Biological Species in search of Innovative Ideas

Speaker: Gwillem Mosedale MSc, MBA; TUM's Center for Bioinspired Research (Bionik)

Time: 3 December 2019, 1:00 pm

Place: Munich School of BioEngineering (Lecture Hall E.126, Boltzmannstr. 11, 85748 Garching)

Abstract: Some technical features that are embedded in natural species such as beetles, whales, plants, etc. are simple, while others require advanced mathematics to describe them.

As engineers, physicists, chemists, architects and industrial designers, how can we use these technological treasures in our daily work? Where should we look for solutions in nature? How do we recognise technicity in spiders, birds, etc.? Do our pets, do we (!), have inbuilt technical solutions, too? And when we do uncover a technical property, how do we translate it to the specific research or industrial context that interests us?

Join Gwillem Mosedale MSc, MBA of TUM's Center for Bioinspired Research (Bionik) for a journey of discovery into the possibilities and challenges of bioinspired solutions.
