German public radio (Deutschlandfunk) reported on the work of MSB-PI Vasilis Ntziachristos and his colleagues at the TUM professorship of Biological Imaging and the Institute for Biological and Medical Imaging at the Helmholtz Zentrum München.
They work in the field of optoacoustic tomography – a novel method of biomedical imaging. Among the many intended applications of optoacoustics are the detection of cancer at an early stage and of changes in the blood vessels connected with cardiovascular disease.
