Über die Sprecherin und den Vortrag:
Maria Fossati, starting from her personal disability and life experiences, will talk about the state of the art of myoelectric hands available on the market and their functioning. Then she will present the SoftHand Pro, a novel robot hand prosthesis developed by the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT) and the Centro Piaggio of the University of Pisa. During the discussion will be introduced different topics, related to the user experiences in daily living activities, followed by some reflections on how bionic hand finishing are affected by functional and technical issues and ergonomics but affect directly aesthetics and social acceptance. Maria works at IIT as a designer but also as a tester of the SoftHand Pro. She was also one of the pilots of the Cybathlon 2020 Global Edition in the Powered Arm Prostheses Race.
