Eleonore Eisath

Eleonore earned a Bachelor in Industrial Design at the Università Iuav di Venezia, and in 2019 completed her Master in Industrial Design at TUM.

In Munich, Eleonore immediately started researching a highly innovative recycling system, which is now providing the basis for the spin-off (start-up) beworm.

Its objective is to develop a biotic/biocatalytic recycling process to break down oil-based plastics such as PE (polyethylene). PE is the world’s most commonly used plastic material, and is used in many consumer goods. In contrast to the more familiar PET, it is presently barely recycled at all. Only a handful of companies, worldwide, are working on this important technical and environmental challenge.

Eleonore's investigations into plastic recycling prompted the jury of our biomimetic idea competition to select her as one of six prize winners in 2019.
