Carlos Rego

Carlos is an industrial designer from IADE, Portugal, works in lightweight packaging design, and has, over time, acquired complementary specializations in marketing, electronics, and most recently (2012) biomimicry.

In 2008, he provided the technical, nature-inspired impetus for the Vitalis mineral water bottle, the first project undertaken by his employer, Logoplaste, which noticeably reduced the amount PET raw material employed in the Vitalis bottle, Under Carlos’ leadership, biomimicry thinking has become a regular tool with which Logoplaste addresses customer demands for aesthetic and business-oriented designs.

Within our speaker panel, Carlos represents a project-based biomimetic approach of identifying natural models in response to different technical load cases. His practical experience extends to motivating interdisciplinary teams working at the intersection of biology, engineering, and design.
