Time: 04 December, from 4:00 to 5:30 pm
Place: Lecture hall E.126 at the Munich School of BioEngineering, Boltzmannstr. 11, 85748 Garching

The subtlety with which evolution has solved vital technical problems can be a source of creativity and engineering excellence. TUM‘s Center for Bioinspired Research (Bionik) supports faculty and students in research, TUM clubs/associations and startups who wish to leverage nature's technical solutions.

Program:

  • Talk on "Bioinspired Innovation: Old Ideas, New Beginnings" by Prof. Marc Desmulliez, Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh ( speaker bio )
  • Award ceremony of the 2019 Idea Contest
  • Outlook on support activities of the Centre for Bioinspired Research in 2020
  • Opportunity to mix and network

Advance registration requested via bionik@tum.de

This event is organised by TUM’s Center for Bioinspired Research. Our speaker partook in the emergence of another new and promising multidisciplinary technology as a PhD student in the early 1990ies. These experiences form the backdrop to his analysis of biomimicry/biomimetics today, and he is one of few with the ability glance behind the curtain in this way. Prof Marc Desmulliez will distil some fundamental learnings from Nature for us, and also touch upon collaborations with industrial partners. We are delighted to have Prof Desmulliez give the inaugural speech to this new round of initiatives sponsored by the Center for Bioinspired Research.
