Topic: Simultaneous T1 and T2 mapping during free-breathing for quantitative magnetic resonance imaging of the liver
Speaker: Jonathan Stelter (Karampinos Group)
Date and Time: Tuesday 02 July 2024, 1:00 pm
Abstract: The prevalence of chronic liver disease is increasing worldwide and quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has shown promise as a non-invasive approach for assessing liver diseases, reducing the need for expensive and potentially risky liver biopsies. Liver T1 and T2 relaxation parameters are of particular interest as they are associated with liver inflammation and fibrosis. However, simultaneous mapping of both parameters is time-consuming, confounding factors have to be considered and breath-hold scans usually cannot cover the whole liver. A new method is presented to enable whole-liver water-specific T1 and T2 mapping during free-breathing for the characterization of diffuse and oncological liver diseases.
