MIBE Seminar: The Munich Compact Light Source (MuCLS) - A MIBE research infrastructure

Topic: The Munich Compact Light Source (MuCLS) - A MIBE  research infrastructure

Speaker: Dr. Benedikt Gnther (Pfeiffer Group)

Date and Time: Tuesday 16 April 2024, 1:00 pm

Abstract: The Munich Compact Light Source is a compact synchrotron X-ray facility. The goal of this seminar is twofold: First, to explain the working principles of this source that allow for shrinking a large-scale synchrotron to lab-scale dimensions and, second, to convey the MuCLS's capabilities to the audience. Both topics are covered on an introductory level.
Hence, X-ray generation via inverse Compton scattering is discussed in the beginning before we present the experimental set-ups which have been optimized for X-ray (phase-contrast) imaging but have been employed for wide-angle X-ray scattering (WAXS) and X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) as well. We round-up this introduction and overview with some recent results on the optimization of K-edge subtraction imaging for inverse-Compton X-ray sources like our MuCLS.
