MSB Online Seminar: Modeling Neural Adaptation in Electrically Stimulated Auditory Nerve Fibers

Topic: Modeling Neural Adaptation in Electrically Stimulated Auditory Nerve Fibers

Speaker: Lukas Driendl, Hemmert Group

Date and Time: Tuesday, 29 June 2021, 1:00 pm

Abstract: Continuous stimulation of neurons results in a reduction of firing rate, known as adaptation. We implemented two adaptation mechanisms in a biophysical auditory nerve fiber model: Slow sodium channel inactivation and M-type potassium current. In addition, eCAPs were reconstructed based on a neuron population model. Simulation results showed realistic adaptation response properties both for single fiber voltage traces and eCAPs.
