Titel: Peripheral nerve modulation for tissue control

Abstract:
The peripheral nervous system connects our central nervous system with most of our muscles and organs. Therefore, being able to reliably interface with it would allow us to sample information from our body, and also to actuate on it. While cochlear implants are still the most successful devices used for neural interfacing, intensive research is being carried out in very diverse fields, from biology to material science, to provide more reliable control over our body. Future applications are predicted to go in the direction of neuroprostheses and closed-loop systems to modulate the activity of organs to treat diseases.
