MIBE Seminar: Organoid Models to Study Cellular Plasticity and Treatment Resistance in Pancreatic Cancer

Topic: Organoid Models to Study Cellular Plasticity and Treatment Resistance in Pancreatic Cancer

Speaker: Aris Papargyriou (Reichert Group)

Date and Time: Tuesday, 11 July, 1:00 pm

Abstract: Organoid technologies have revolutionized the way we understand complex biological processes and model diseases such as cancer. Recently in our lab we developed a novel organoid model where we recapitulate branching morphogenesis of pancreatic tumours recapitulating the in vivo primary tumour architecture. In this talk we will discuss how we can take advantage of this system to understand cellular plasticity with emphasis to a conserved developmental program, the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition. How this plasticity can shape inter- and intra-tumoral heterogeneity and how these two hallmarks of cancer contribute to treatment resistance.
