Events at MIBE in the upcoming summer term

In the upcoming summer term, there will be two new events at the Munich Institute of Biomedical Engineering (MIBE). The newly implemented speaker series “We are MIBE” provides insights into the work of two Principal Investigators of MIBE at each of the three events. The series will be concluded with another highlight: the Bioengineering Day at the end of June.

Speaker Series “We are MIBE“

At each event, two Principal Investigators (PIs) of MIBE working in related research areas will provide exciting insights into their research. We are happy to announce that in the upcoming semester the following PIs will present their work:

  • April 6th, 2022, 4:30 pm – around 6:00 pm:
Prof. Julia Schnabel “Towards real-time medical imaging”
Prof. Daniel Rückert “Learning clinically useful information from medical images”

  • May 4th, 2022, 4:30 pm – around 6:00 pm:
    Prof. Gil Westmeyer, topic tbd
    Prof. Bernhard Wolfrum, topic tbd

  • May 31st, 2022, 4:30 pm – around 6:00 pm:
Prof. Kristen Kozielski “Magnetoelectric nanomaterials for wireless neuronal modulation”
Prof. Berna Özkale Edelmann “Soft microrobots for single cell mechanobiology”

The talks are open to all researchers and interested people working in the broad field of biomedical engineering and take place in the MIBE lecture hall on the research campus Garching. Additionally, streaming via zoom is planned.
The new speaker series also aims to foster further synergies between researchers from all areas of bioengineering. Thus, everyone is very welcome to seize the networking opportunity after the presentations.

More information on the single events can be found around two weeks before each talk in the section “Events”.

„Tag des Bioengineering“

We are happy to host the “Tag des Bioengineering” on June 24th, 2022. This day connects researchers, teachers and doctoral candidates working in the various areas of bioengineering of TUM and partner institutions.

A program with keynote, pitch talks, and poster session thereby covers the aspects research and teaching as well as entrepreneurship. After the program, there will be plenty of opportunity to connect and network with colleagues over food and drinks.

Preliminary Program:

  • Welcome
  • Keynote by Prof. Dr. Tobias Schäffter (PTB & TU Berlin)
  • Pitch-Talk by Dr. Marian Willner (MITOS GmbH)
  • Pitch-Talk by Dr. Benjamin Kick (Plectonic)
  • Pitch-Talk by Prof. Dr. Julia Herzen about the BEMP Study Program
  • Poster Session
  • Networking over food and drinks

More information about the Bioengineering Day can soon be found on the event page.
